JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! This may look off-balance to the Western eye . . . but it represents  a very well planned arrangement, and is a typical shape for ikebana. There are very strict rules that must be followed.

This closeup shows the many varieties of flowers and leaves that were used.
More dramatic arrangements.
I like these bamboo containers.
In low containers, a metal "frog" is used to hold stems, but this is how they are held inside this bamboo container - with a little bamboo fork.
