Nancy & Eldon's last week in Iwakuni

When I arrived back in Japan on Monday night, I found out that the Kirkhums were leaving the following Sunday morning, 8/1, so we had a lot of places to visit & food to eat before they left! Eldon has taken a transfer to Vicenza, Italy -- poor things!

Driving along in Iwakuni, we notice this loooong stairway going up a hillside. It's very green because there's been lots of rain while I was in the US. See at the cool statues about half-way up? There's probably a shrine at the top, but we didn't stop to investigate. We're going to the Chicken Shack tonight for their last visit. It's an Iwakuni tradition & a great tourist stop. Besides, the food is great!
