After about 3 hours on the Shinkansen, we're on the local train from Shinagawa to Yokosuka - another hour's ride.
Outside the Yokosuka Station waiting for a taxi. It's misting rain here & quite cold. We're a lot further north here & the wind is very cold coming in from the sea.
After a long day, we're finally checking into our "home away from home" -- the Navy Lodge. Oops, no picture of the room, but it was quite large with 2 Q beds, bath & small kitchen. Right behind the building was a full-size Chili's Restaurant, so that will be a short walk for our meals.
The next morning (still raining!) we head out early in a taxi to the other side of the base to the Navy Hospital, where I meet with a surgeon. The end result is that I'm not having my bladder surgery here. My case is a little too complicated, especially without the proper equipment to run all the tests I need. It's too late to head back to Iwakuni today, so we'll leave early tomorrow morning. After a short tour of the Navy Exchange, we have lunch & I head to our room while Stan goes back to the station to get our tickets. Later, we're on the shuttle bus for the Main Gate to head out into town to find dinner. It's raining as we drive through some housing areas on base.
