JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Outside, we find a sample of the beautiful carved stone inside. This small museum, details art and trade between China and Persia. There were beautiful items on display, but everything had Japanese signs, so we had to try to figure out the information. There was a very friendly docent, who explained everything carefully -- also in Japanese. It was worth going, though, although I was not allowed to take pictures. Here's a website so you can see what we saw: http://www.city.okayama.okayama.jp/orientmuseum/orient-e/collection.htm

After the museum, we walked a short distance, crossed the wide street & entered the covered Omotecho Shotengai shopping street.

Can you tell that this seating area around a tree is shaped like a giant guitar?

And this one is shaped like a grand piano!
