The Japanese November Grand Sumo Tournament started recently. Thank goodness -- it came just in time to fill the void left by election withdrawal! So every afternoon from 4 to 6 --I'm rooted in front of the TV for sumo with English translation. After being an avid fan for nearly 4 years, we've decided to attend in person on the final day, Sunday, November 23 in Fukuoka (Kyushu Island) & we're very excited! Below is a glimpse of sumo on TV, but watch this space soon for some "real" photos. We're paying around $100 each for our bus ride & ticket to the event, but I'm told the "prime" seats -- down front (where you could actually get squished!) cost $1000 for one day! And when we watch sumo on TV, we sometimes see the same faces in the crowd for the entire 15-day event . . .
