JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Look at all this beautiful rock work along the highway.

Passing VERY close to a "small" bus on a VERY narrow road! This was scary!

We've pulled over to the right side as far as we can into the trees to let someone pass. The views along the river here were beautiful, but no place to pull off to enjoy it -- not even enough room to pass cars, and the river was below, with huge rocks!

Well, this sign says it all!

Now, this VERY narrow road was bad enough, but there were many, many (mostly huge!) cars coming toward us & most of the time, we were on the "drop off" side, while they were on the upside of the hill. Sometimes we had to back up to find a "wider" spot in order to pass on this "less than 2-lane road" and sometimes they had to back up. There were several times that Nancy, Eldon & I thought we might slide off the edge, but Stan stayed calm . . . there's about an hour between this picture above, and the one below, during which time I was too frozen with fear to take more pictures!
