JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Count Basie Orchestra Comes to Iwakuni ! ! !

On December 1, we attended a fabulous concert of the famous Count Basie Orchestra at the Sinfonia in downtown Iwakuni. It was amazing, and some of the the very self-controlled Japanese were even clapping & moving to the music by the end of the evening! Of course, no cameras were allowed, but here are the posters:

After the concert, we went for a late dinner. This is Stan's dinner set, consisting of fried shrimp & steak, along with some veggies, the usual soup & rice. Yes, those brownish circles are actually onion rings, not squid (calimari) like they usually are here in Japan! I can't remember the name of this restaurant, but it's next door to the "pork place" and we'll definately come back here again!
