JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Sunday Bike Ride Around the Base . . .

It's a warm, beautiful Sunday afternoon. We decided to ride the perimeter road on our bikes today. It's about 5.5 miles around, but we also decided to check out the new pier, so that's another mile or two. One never knows what will be there -- last time was the mine sweeper! We were admiring this sailboat, "Nagisa" -- that's my Japanese name that I was given at my chigerie class for signing all my pictures. Nagisa means "soft ocean wave" which suits me fine. We've seen this boat here before . . .

The captain emerged, and invited us aboard. We were hesitant at first, because we wanted to be sure, but he was very gracious, and insisted we come aboard.

Here we go down into the small, packed, but very interesting cabin.
