JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Stan on the seawall on base as we continue around the perimeter road. We stopped for dinner on our way home, so we probably rode well over 7 miles today. Not bad for old folks, huh? Found out recently that both of Margie's knees are completely shot -- not a big surprise -- all cartilege is gone, but it was disappointing to hear that knee replacements are my only option. What a bummer! The good news is that I can put it off as long as I can tolerate it, so I've decided to "limp along" for a while (no pun intended) and I can continue bike riding and water aerobics. I got a cortisone cocktail injection in each knee (ouch!) but now, I'm moving great & I'm on the list to receive one every 3 months when the "traveling orthopod" visits . . . so on we go!

Ducks enjoying the warm sunhine in this clear, shallow water.

Look at that gorgeous sky as the sun begins to set! There's still some debris on the beach over the seawall from previous typhoons.
