Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! Spring Sumo Tournament

Those of you who know us, know that we are not sports fans. However, since living in Japan, we have become captivated with sumo. There are 4 two-week tournaments a year -- one for each season. The spring tournament is finishing up this week, so I am glued to the TV every afternoon between 4 & 6. This tournament is being held in Osaka and there is a huge crowd today. I've been told that the seats are very expensive -- especially down front near the clay ring. There are no ropes around this ring, and the wrestlers frequently fall or are pushed off (about 3 feet) to the seats below.
