Lots of folks fishing today on the pier. Look how long her rod is! There is a tiny fish on the line. This lady caught several while we were watching.

Inside the bag is bait (small eggs or chopped seafood) that is placed in what looked to me to be a small hair-roller, which is then attached to a line at the end of a long rod. This is dropped into the water and waved back & forth to draw the fish. Notice that chopsticks are used for handling the bait.

This is the fish they were catching. Very small, but they were all very excited to be catching so many. This fish must have poisonous spines on the outside, because they were handling them VERY carefully . . . and the little boy wouldn't touch one at all!
