We're making a big sweeping turn -- we think this is so people on both sides of the ferry can see the famous Torii Gate as we approach. I'm standing just outside the bridge.

There it is!

It's cloudy now, but we're hoping the sun will come out soon.
Although we've been here many times, we never get tired of this beautiful place. Miyajima Island is only 19 miles in circumference, and is a sanctuary devoted to the quest of breaking the cycle of suffering, real or perceived. Because of this, no person is allowed to do anything so human as to give birth or die on this sacred island, although many people live here.
