JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! This is the artist with two of her paintings. They were massive in size. We were told that she didn't start painting until late in her 40s -- her work is exquisite! Japanese artists are very proud of their paints, which are hand-mixed and some of the rough texture was created from crushed up shells mixed into the paint. The canvas is made of hand-made textured washi paper. Posted by Picasa
