JAPAN ADVENTURE

Welcome to Margie & Stan's Japan Adventure - our photo blog while living on MCAS Iwakuni in beautiful Yamaguchi Prefecture in Western Japan from 8/2004 to present. My photo above is the famous Kintai Bridge right here in Iwakuni. Be sure to check out Blog Archive (below left) for highlights of our travels. And leave us a comment - we'd love to hear from you! A Weekend Trip to Sasabo & Arita Festival

The Arita Porcelain Festival is held only once a year. Arita is referred to as the "birthplace of Japanese Porcelain." We decided to make it a long weekend & stay at nearby Sasabo Naval Base, so we could attend the festival in Arita & visit Huis Ten Bosch. Both areas are near Sasabo. It's about a 5 hour drive from Iwakuni, so we took the toll road, loaded up Jim & Ingrid & all our stuff & off we went! This photo shows a hand-painted mural & living plant outside the women's toire (potty) at a rest stop. Posted by Picasa
