Something different is parked on our jet parking lot across the street. It's the day before Friendship Day, which is an "Open House" for our base. It's the one day that the gates are open to anyone who wants to come see what's going on here and it's always held on May 5 -- a big Japanese holiday. There are booths for food, drinks, souvenirs, and there are air shows, motorcycle performers and skydivers. Many American and Japanese planes are on static display. There is also a play area for children, called Kid's Land. Tens of thousands of Japanese visitors attend each year.
