#2 Las Vegas & Kingman, AZ 6/21/10 - 7/6/10

Yum - a real hamburger and fries for our first American meal on this trip after we landed in Las Vegas & were met by daughter Heather . . .

Then a stop at Krispy Kreme - oh yeah, this is going to be a fattening summer!

I love the chocolate glazed the best, but we also got plain glazed. We're all purists when it comes to KK.
So many choices . . .

View of Lake Mead near Boulder City, as we drive toward Kingman.

The dam archway is finished! The last time we were here, it had not yet met in the middle.

Statue to honor the workers in the 1930s on Hoover Dam.
Beautiful sculpture at Hoover Dam.

After we arrive in Kingman, Heather's making brownies & fortunately she has two little people who are happy to help clean up!

Cody and Grampa.
The boys in a bear hug!

Kelly

No Cody - you're too young for Mommy's wine!

Stan at the new wine bar in the historic part of Kingman - pretty cool, huh?

I love the architecture in this old building & the way it's painted.
Well, this is good news!

One of our wine bottles . . .

Heather loves good wine!

And so does Stan.

Driving to Vegas

Cool sign in Kingman, as we drive toward Vegas. We're taking the kids to play at Chuck E Cheese's and eat dinner.

Approaching Hoover Dam

Kelly always looks for this number 30 carved on this rock near the road in the canyon. Wonder why it's there?

The dam bypass bridge.
Cody at Chuck E Cheese's in Vegas. Heather likes to bring the kids here to play inside where it's cool - but never to eat. That's Cody.

And driving . . .

Cody reins in his pony.

Kelly loved this!

Boy - Kelly sure looks like Heather at 10!

Of course, afterward we went for teppanyaki. Here goes the onion volcano . . .

Our chef isn't Japanese, but our food was delicious!

Look how pretty this looks!
After church on Sunday, we see an elk in the road as we drive up to the Hualapai ("wall-a-pie") Mountain Lodge for brunch.

Kelly outside the restaurant. It's a few degrees cooler here in the mountains.

Cody likes Grampa's hat!

Big elk outside the window of the restaurant.

Continuining on as we eat our way across America . . . A few days later, we try this new restaurant that smells like Alabama when you walk in! Real BBQ? Pork? Stan looks excited!

Look how cute the decorations are inside.
Tender ribs and yummy onion rings.

Ew-wee! Enjoying our dinner at Redneck's in Kingman.
